International students

Instructions on this page concern only following students when moving to Finland:

Riveria´s students in the following field of studies:

  • Social and health care.
  • Cleaning and property services when attending a practical training in health care facilities.
  • Students taking care of children under school age during their studies.
  • Karelia´s exchange students in the field of social and health care.

Read the following instructions well in advance before you arrive in Finland. The student health care of Siun sote requests international students to send a health information inquiry: health information inquiry. Please send your health information inquiry at least two months before you arrive in Finland.

Your personal and health data will be processed in accordance with data protection regulations. The information will be processed confidentially and will only be used by student health care services of Siun sote. You can read the detailed privacy statement of the process here: Privacy policy statement: Health information inquiry for international students. For more information on processing of data at Siun sote: Customer and patient information - English (siunsote.fi).

Before you arrive in Finland

Read the requirements in your field of study from the customer guide you got from your educational institution or from the health information inquiry.

Notice that the health information inquiry is being updated during the spring of 2024. At the moment the old health information inquiry doesn´t indicate the requirements as clearly as the customer guide. Some of the requirements has changed, for example corona vaccines are no longer mandatory and if you would need a thorax x-ray, it would be taken in Finland instead of your home country. We will update the new inquiry here as soon as possible. Until then you can fill the old inquiry and your school nurse will guide you if you have any questions.

  • If possible, fill your vaccine protection in your home country to meet the requirements.
  • Request an English-language certificate signed by a health care professional on your vaccinations.
  • Open and fill out the form Health information inquiry for international students: health information inquiry. Save it to your computer or other device.
  • Send your personal information, the completed health information form and its attachments through a secure email service, either by using electronic identification or by responding to a secure email. See detailed instruction below.

Remember to make sure you have a valid health insurance covering medical expenses and accidents. The insurance must be valid throughout your studies. If you have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC), you do not need a separate insurance. You can find more information about the insurances from the website at Finnish Immigration Services (migri.fi).

Take the necessary insurance documents with you when arriving in Finland. We also recommend you to either save your vaccine certificates on your device or to bring them with you when arriving in Finland.

Sending the form by replying to a secure email
