A fair number of people have got the flu vaccine this year – going forward, vaccinating risk groups will be a priority

Siun sote – joint municipal authority for North Karelia social and health services

This year, people have been very active in getting the flu vaccine in North Karelia as well. Vaccines are about to run out in North Karelia and all of Finland, which is why vaccinating risk groups is now a priority so that we can protect people who are at high risk of severe influenza.

Approximately 63,000 influenza vaccines are reserved for the Siun sote operating area each year. Usually this is more than enough, with some doses even left over. The coronavirus epidemic has prompted an unusually high number of people to get vaccinated this year, which is a very good thing.

As it stands, there won't be enough doses for all reserved appointments, and no new appointments can be booked. Unfortunately, some of the reserved vaccination appointments will have to be cancelled.

Siun sote carried out influenza vaccinations this year by appointment at health stations and maternity and child health clinics. Vaccinations were also provided at day care centres.
