The North Karelia Central Hospital provides extensive emergency care, and it has for long been one of Finland's most profitable central hospitals. In national comparisons, the quality of hospital care and patient safety are some of the highest.

The Central Hospital has all of the most important specialities except open heart surgery and neurosurgery.

The main lobby has a waiting area, a registration point and a caretaker's information desk.

Central Hospital patients are admitted with referrals

To access specialised medical care services, you need a doctor's referral. A referral can be written by a physician at a health station, occupational health care or private medical clinic as necessary. The Central Hospital makes an appointment for you and sends you an invitation letter to your home.

Emergency clinic visit

You do not need a referral for emergency care or urgent care. Urgent care is provided at the emergency clinic.

Customer parking

The indoors car park is located directly to the left of the hospital entrance.

There are also a few parking spaces outdoors in the hospital area. In front of the main entrance and emergency clinic there are 30 minute parking spaces for escorting and pickup traffic.

Parking in the hospital area is mainly subject to a fee. There are only a few parking disc spaces with no fee, and the entire area is subject to parking supervision. There are disabled parking spaces next to the main entrance and on the 2nd floor of the indoors car park, for example.
