Excep­tions to Opening Hours

Please note that most of our social and health centres and service points are typically open on weekdays only and are closed on public holidays such as Finnish Inde­pend­ence Day, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Epiphany. During these times, emergency care is available at the joint emergency clinic of the North Karelia Central Hospital.

Social and Health Centres and Service Points

When your local social and health centre or service point is closed, you can use any of the centres or service points of Siun sote. You can also book an appoint­ment online (in Finnish) at verkko​ajan​va​rauspth​.siunsote​.fi.

The following social and health centres and service points will be closed on the specified dates. During these periods, no nurse, doctor or physio­ther­apist appoint­ments will be available at these locations. The location of the nearest social and health centre or service point is in paren­theses.

The nurse at the social and health centre will answer the phone and assess the need for treatment. The nurse will give the required care instruc­tions and tell you what to do. The range of services available in the online appoint­ment booking service varies by location, so if you cannot find the appoint­ment you need, make an appoint­ment by phone by calling the social and health centre.

Physio­therapy

The cent­ral­ised telephone service for physio­therapy is available at +358 (0)13 330 2601. You can also book an appoint­ment online (in Finnish) at verkko​ajan​va​rauspth​.siunsote​.fi.

Siun sote sampling points

You can book an appoint­ment for open offices via the elec­tronic appoint­ment booking service at www​.islab​.fi or by phone at the appoint­ment number +358 (0)44 717 8888 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., a call-back service is available between 8 a.m. and 12 noon. The operator charges a normal telephone charge for the call.

Maternity and Child Health Clinics

Between 22 December 2025 and 4 January 2026, maternity and child health clinics will primarily serve pregnant women, mothers who have recently given birth, and children aged 0 to 1.5 years. Other child health check-ups and women’s screening appoint­ments will be carried out when possible. You can also book an appoint­ment online (in Finnish) at verkko​ajan​va​rauspth​.siunsote​.fi.

The cent­ral­ized telephone service for maternity and child health clinics is available on weekdays, Monday to Tuesday from 8:00 to 13:00, at +358 (0)13 330 2841.

Mental Health and Substance use Services

Scheduled appoint­ments will take place as planned, but otherwise, mental health and substance use services will operate remotely or remain closed while the health station is closed. The cent­ral­ised call service at +358 (0)13 330 2145 is open on weekdays from 8:00 to 15:30.

Memory Clinics and Senior Health Services

Services will be closed from 22 December to 4 January 2026.

Veter­inary care

The horse clinic in Joensuu will be closed 23 December 2025 and from 30 December 2025 to 2 January 2026.
