Appointment with a doctor or a nurse

Contact your local health centre, health station or social and health service point.

As a resident of North Karelia, you can use any of Siun sote’s service locations.

If the health station is closed and you need urgent care, go to the Emergency Department at North Karelia Central Hospital.

Call

When you call the health station, you will first hear a recorded message that explains how to leave a callback request.

If you do not want a callback or your matter is urgent, stay on the line and wait for someone to answer.

If you leave a callback request, we will call you back as soon as possible (we will try twice). If you are unable to answer, you can call again and leave a new request.

Send a text message

If calling is not possible for you, you may send a text message to your health station. Each health station has its own SMS number. The service is available during the same hours as the station’s regular telephone service. We will respond to your message as soon as possible.

Digital services

In the national My Kanta (Omakanta) service, you can renew prescriptions and view test results.

Cancelling an appointment

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please cancel as soon as possible. A charge applies for missed appointments (for persons aged 18 and over).

You can cancel:

• By phone or text message — In your message include the word "cancellation", your name, date of birth, appointment time, and service point. A text message can be up to 160 characters; longer messages may not be delivered. The appointment is cancelled once you receive a confirmation message.
