About us

What we do

Our mission is to support people’s health and wellbeing, ensure safety in the community, and promote a good quality of life – so that North Karelia remains a safe and healthy place to live.

We organise public social and health care services, envir­on­mental health care and rescue services in North Karelia.

Nearly every resident of the region uses our services each year.

We operate in 13 muni­cip­al­ities: Joensuu, Kitee, Lieksa, Nurmes, Outokumpu, Konti­o­l­ahti, Ilomantsi, Juuka, Liperi, Polvijärvi, Rääkkylä, Tohma­järvi and Heinävesi.
